PhD Position in Robotics and Blockchain Technology

DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about robotics, and the future of autonomous systems? The Cyber-Physical Life research group at the IE School of Science and Technology, IE University (Madrid, Spain), is inviting applications for a fully funded 3-year PhD position. This is a unique opportunity to pursue cutting-edge research at the intersection of robotics, blockchain-based tools, and AI-driven creativity.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Creation of innovative concepts and methodologies that combine robotics, blockchain and AI.
  • Execution of proofs of concept on real-world use cases.
  • Publish the findings from the created solutions in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Occasional teaching in related undergrad courses.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A strong academic background (MSc/MEng) in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary research combining robotics, blockchain, and AI.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Robot Operating System (ROS) and Blockchain-based technology (e.g., XRP Ledger, Ethereum EVM, ZKPs).
  • Concept prototyping skills, mainly through Python programming.

MSCA Postdoctoral Researcher

DESCRIPTION
  • Research and Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of the ROBOPRENEUR research line. By exploring this line of research, we seek to understand new human–robot interaction methods, where robots can be understood not only as economic tools but also as economic peers.

  • Robotics Integration: Design and implement advanced algorithms that enable robots to autonomously generate, market, and sell their own labor. Refine the integration of robotics with blockchain technology to ensure secure and efficient economic autonomy.

  • Collaboration and Mentorship: Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and other researchers in the department to advance the project’s objectives. Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate students involved in related research.

  • Publication and Dissemination: Produce high-quality research publications and present findings at international conferences. Contribute to the dissemination of the project’s outcomes through academic and industry channels.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Ph.D. in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in blockchain-based technology.
  • Proven track record of high-quality research publications in relevant fields.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
